Levels

Imagine thousands of fabric leaves suspended forty feet high, fluttering and dancing in the air: this is what the exhibition Levels presented to viewers at AHHA Tulsa.

This work reduced one small natural element - a tree leaf - to its simplest form, and then expanded its chromatic potential. Each of the four pieces embodied a season by using the colors and shapes most evocative of that time of year.

More on the inspiration for this piece can be found in Elizabeth’s artist statement. More on the process of creating these can be found in this blog post.

Winter, Summer and Spring were later included in the Salina Biennial and Fall became a permanent installation at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Winter is now installed at a private residence.
